Hello all!
Welcome back! Summer may be officially over, but it doesn’t mean that the beach days are! The Photography Club at UCLA is heading to Santa Monica Beach this Friday, the 27th! We’ll be meeting up at the Bruin Bear at 3:45pm, and heading down to the Big Blue Bus stop from there. The bus fare is $0.50 one-way, so be sure to bring some change (as well as your Bruincard)!
For those that got some great shots over the break, send them in to photoclubatucla@gmail.com, or submit to Flickr!
Mentor/Mentee Program:
Did you just get your camera and want to learn more about the basics of photography? Or are you more advanced and willing to delve into landscape or portrait photography with an expert? For the 2013-2014 school year, we’re starting a mentor system to help you develop your skills and answer your questions in a more personal way! We have a wide variety of officers who will be your mentors for this year. Please fill out this form so we can get to know you a little better and match you with a Photo Club mentor. Even if you do consider yourself an experienced photographer, please think about signing up! If there are any questions, we’ll be discussing the mentor system at this week’s Santa Monica outing.
General Meeting:
Next week, Friday, October 4th, is our General Meeting! Stop by for an overview of the club and our plans for the quarter! We’ll be meeting in Kerckhoff 131 at 4:00pm. We’ll be selling our awesome club shirts for $15, so be sure to pick one up!
Glow | Santa Monica:
This Saturday, the 28th, is Glow, an all-night interactive art experience at Santa Monica Beach and Pier! Running from 7pm-3am, and featuring multiple exhibitions from interactive light installations to concert and dance performances, Glow is the perfect opportunity for night photographers. Get there by riding the Big Blue Buses 1,2, or 3 (or the Metro 720) to the transit hub on 11th St between Olympic and Colorado, and hop on a shuttle to the event. And did we mention that the whole thing is free? Check it out here.
