Hello all!
Thanks for those who went to our landscape workshop last week! This week, street photographer Rinzi Ruiz will be talking to us about his work and process on Friday, November 9th, in Ackerman Union 2408 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. You can check out his website and his blog here and here.
Intro class, we’re meeting at 1pm at the Bruin Bear on Sunday.
Photography in LA:
An exhibit on Stanley Kubrick is now open at the LACMA.The exhibit covers not only Kubrick’s film work, but also his photographic work for LOOK magazine in the 1940s. You can get to LACMA by taking the 720 bus on Wilshire to Wilshire/Fairfax. The museum is free after 3pm for LA county residents Monday through Friday, and on federal holidays (Veteran’s Day, anyone?)
A new photography exhibit has opened up at the Getty Museum on Robert Mapplethorpe , showcasing his still-lifes, nudes, and celebrity portraits. The Getty Museum gardens have also reopened for those interested in wandering the grounds. To get to the Getty Museum from campus (the dorms) take the Metro 761 ($1.50 one way) from Sunset/Bellagio towards Pacoima and ride two stops until Getty Center Dr.. Then cross the road and take the tram up to the museum. There is no entry fee for the museum, and the museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 am until 5:30 pm.
If you know of other events around LA that would be interesting to your fellow photographers, please tell us about them or post on the Facebook group!
