Hello!
Thanks to those who went to our social last Friday! This Friday, we’re having a talk on event photography this Friday, April 13th at 4 pm in Ackerman Union 3517 . Get some more info on event shooting, working with clients, and covering not only ground work but also event studio shoots!
Also feel free to submit photos to us at photoclubatucla@gmail.com. We’re starting weekly themes, and this week is UCLA! Check out WorldFest and BruinDay! Also remember to bring some cash, because we’ll also be selling Photography Club at UCLA shirts for $15. (You can also pay through Paypal. Just remember to give us your name and phone number.)
If you couldn’t make it to our previous meetings, check out the previous posts which have all been updated with event photos. If you’ve got photos of our own to add, feel free to email them to us or post on the forums!
Some other news for you all!
This week is WorldFest! The Photography Club at UCLA is partnering with WorldFest and offering event photography services. If you’re interested in getting some practice with event shooting on the ground, or learning the ins and outs of studio work in event photography, email us or sign up at the meeting! We’re especially looking for groups with lighting setups, although if you’d just like to learn we can set you up with a pre-existing group. We’ll be shooting for them at the Carnival on Saturday, so if anyone’s looking for some resume work, the Carnival is paired with Bruin Day and you’ll be sure to get a ton of experience. We’re expecting over 12,000 visitors!
Monday, April 16th, is College Night at the Getty Museum! There will be free food, music, and an awesome featured exhibit, Herb Ritts: L.A. Style. Herb Ritts (1952–2002) was a Los Angeles-based photographer who established an international reputation for his distinctive photographs of fashion models, nudes, and pop icons. The event runs from 6 – 9:30 pm, but we’ve arranged for a special behind-the-scenes tour at 5:30 pm. If you’re interested, email us or sign up at the general meeting, but don’t forget to sign up as well on the Getty site! To sign up for the tour, please RSVP us (email or general meeting) by TOMORROW the 10th at noon.
Campus organization FISH (Fellowship for International Service and Health) is looking for eager photojournalists to travel with them on their biweekly day-trips to Mexico to provide medical services. If you’re interested, please email us at photoclubatucla@gmail.com!
