Week 5 Meeting: Dynamic Range Workshop

Hello, everyone!

This week, we will be holding a workshop on dynamic range and making the most out of your camera with our own landscape photographer Jeff Lewis, founder of LandESCAPE Photography! We’ll be meeting in Ackerman 2408 at 4:00 PM on Friday, February 10th.

Have you ever been out taking photos of an amazing sunset, but when you got home you thought, “Dang, that photo would be so much better if the sky weren’t so washed out or if the foreground weren’t all black!” Why does my camera suck?! Then you go online and see a pro’s shot of the same place and can’t help but wonder: how did they get that exposure so even and perfect in that same crazy light? Is it just their fancy camera?

Usually, it’s not.

In this workshop, we’ll be exploring detail recovery, exposure blending, HDR, and other methods of making the most of what your camera can capture. You’ll learn to turn this into this.  Many professionals won’t show you these techniques unless you pay them $100s, so don’t miss out on this unique opportunity!

Feel free to check out Jeff’s website: www.landESCAPEphotography.com or flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/landESCAPEphotography.

If you have a photo that you’d like to have retouched during the workshop, email it to photoclubatucla@gmail.com. The higher the resolution, the better.

Because this workshop is hands-on: PLEASE bring your laptop! If you have Photoshop and/or Lightroom, that’s great – if not, you’ll be able to share with someone who does.
