UCLA ORL Arts Happening: Call for Artists

This is an initial notification of an upcoming call for artists to participate in an undergraduate art showcase happening on the Hill in late January.  More info will be forthcoming the first week of Winter Quarter.  Please pass this info along to any and all of your residents who may be interested.

The Office of Residential Life seeks art from all disciplines for Arts Happening on the Hill, a showcase of student arts to be held on January 24th in the Covel Commons building. This event will be attended by students, faculty, staff, and representatives from the Hammer Museum, Fowler Museum, UCLA Film & Television Archive, and UCLA Live.

The opportunity to submit work for the showcase is free and open to all undergraduate students.  ORL is interested in all varieties of art and expression, including music and dance, film and video, painting, sculpture, graphic art, and proposals for a temporary, site-specific installation.  Applicants who would like to view the installation space may contact Jenny Byrd or Jesse Herring at artshappening@orl.ucla.edu.

To submit, email the artist’s name(s), the media or discipline of the work, and a 150-word or shorter description to artshappening@orl.ucla.edu no later than Friday, January 15th, 5pm. Samples are strongly recommended.  Selected artists will be notified no later than Wednesday, January 20th, 5pm.

Students interested in sharing their work with the community are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to make it happen.

Thank You,

Jenny Byrd and Jesse Herring
